A senior enterprise architect, without the full-time hire.

I’m Jason Marshall. For more than 20 years I’ve rationalized application portfolios, designed integration platforms, and led architecture at companies like Toyota North America, BNSF Railway, and Frontier Airlines. Quangenix brings that work to your team: fractionally, by the project, or on contract.

Taking on new engagements now.

What I do

Four kinds of work, often in combination. Each one starts with how your business actually runs, not with a tool.

Fractional enterprise architecture

Architecture leadership a few days a month.

Most mid-size companies need an architect’s judgment every week but can’t justify a full-time hire. I bring that judgment on a schedule: reviewing designs, setting standards, and keeping big technology decisions tied to where the business is going.

Typical work

  • An architecture review board and a single front door for requests
  • Target-state and transition roadmaps
  • Design reviews and standards your teams can follow

Application portfolio rationalization

Know what you run, what it costs, and what to cut.

I build a trusted inventory, map every application to the business capabilities it serves, and document total cost of ownership. Each application gets a clear call: tolerate, invest, migrate, or retire. Vendor contracts and renewals are tied to the applications they pay for, so savings land in real budgets.

Typical work

  • Application inventory and capability map
  • Cost of ownership and redundancy analysis
  • A disposition plan with a retirement roadmap

Works with LeanIX, ServiceNow APM, or the spreadsheet you have today. I’ve led rationalization across portfolios of up to 3,100 applications.

Integration and API architecture

Connect your systems once, and govern how they talk.

Integrations are where programs stall. I design API-led and event-driven integration platforms, put governance at the gateway, and map how data moves between your ERP, CRM, finance, HR, and line-of-business systems. I use what your platforms already do before building anything custom.

Typical work

  • Integration strategy and reference architecture
  • API governance: security, versioning, rate limits, and logging
  • ERP and finance integrations, migrations, and cutovers

MuleSoft, Azure API Management, Kafka, and RabbitMQ. REST, GraphQL, SOAP, FHIR, and EDI.

AI forward-deployed engineering

Get an AI use case out of the demo and into production.

I embed with your team to take one AI use case from prototype to production: connected to your systems and data, grounded in your own documents, and built with the controls regulated industries need, like sensitive data redaction, human review, and audit trails.

Typical work

  • Choosing the right first use case and a realistic delivery plan
  • Integration with the systems the AI needs to read and act on
  • Guardrails, evaluation, and a clean handoff to your team

When to call

If any of these sound familiar, a short conversation will tell us both whether I can help.

  • Different teams keep buying tools that do the same job.
  • An ERP, CRM, or finance platform migration is coming.
  • You’re bringing acquired companies onto shared systems.
  • Integrations break, and nobody owns the map.
  • Leadership wants AI in production, with guardrails.
  • You need architecture governance, but not a full-time architect.

Ways to work together

Pick the shape that fits. Whichever you choose, you work with me directly, not a bench of juniors.

Fractional

A set number of days each month, ongoing. Senior architecture leadership without a full-time salary.

Project

A fixed scope and timeline, like a portfolio rationalization or an integration platform design, with a defined deliverable at the end.

Contract

Full time for a defined term, embedded in your program as its enterprise, solutions, or integration architect.

Based in Dallas-Fort Worth. Remote first, on site when it helps.

Who you’ll work with

I’m Jason Marshall, an enterprise architect with more than 20 years of experience. I’ve held senior enterprise architect roles at Toyota North America, Lockton, Frontier Airlines, and BNSF Railway, where I led rationalization of a 3,100-application portfolio. Earlier work includes Southwest Airlines and Deloitte, plus director roles running IT teams, so I know how architecture looks from the budget side too.

I stay hands-on. I design it, document it, and help your team build it, across healthcare, insurance, airlines, rail, and automotive.
